Lost post

February 26, 2009

Wow, okay, first thing, I cannot believe how old Walt is. Geez. I mean… I know he grew up in real life and everything, but um… wow. I kind of hope they bring him back, considering all that stuff they had about him with the bird dying and whatever… I actually don’t really remember what his deal was. All I remember is that I made Hogwarts jokes about him. I don’t know. Anyway, let’s bring him back now that he can actually act.

I’m sad the Fringe guy got shot. I guess the actor has other things to do, but I was hoping for some crossover references. (Not that I would recognize them because I haven’t been watching Fringe, but someone else could have told me what they were.)

I don’t care what people say, I have a soft spot for Jack even when he acts like a complete idiot. I really liked his interaction with Locke for some reason. I think Matthew Fox does “incredulous” very well and I’m not sick of it yet.

Ben Linus is a slimy little sleazebag. And I like Charles Widmore, but I don’t know if that’s going to backfire or not. I don’t know what their deal is, but at this point I believe Widmore.

I was grossed out by the scene where Ben strangled Locke mainly because of the noises. I don’t know which of them I dislike more, so I don’t have feelings one way or another on him dying… plus I know he comes back to life on the island anyway, so the emotional punch wasn’t there. But I guess Ben didn’t know that was going to happen.

Overall opinion of this episode: blah. Probably because I don’t like Locke.

I just looked at IMDB and the second to last episode this season (airing in April sometime) is called “Some Like it Hoth.” I find this hilarious. I love you Lost writers.

tv update

February 26, 2009

Being Human: A British TV show about a ghost, a vampire and a werewolf who are all housemates. Typically, I have a violent and unreasonable reaction to “vampire” and “werewolf” and want nothing whatsoever to do with stories involving them (thank you Stephenie Meyer) but this somehow is one of the best shows I’ve seen in a long time. It’s funny and endearing and heartbreaking and really looks at what it’s like to be human from the point of view of people who aren’t. I love it.

Dollhouse: I’m interested. That’s all I can really say. I’ve never had the opportunity to watch a long running Joss Whedon show – I didn’t get into Buffy or Angel, and Firefly only had 14 episodes and a movie. Hopefully this one will last longer because I feel like there’s a lot that’s going into this, and at the start of the series I can tell we’re only chipping away at the tip of the story. I know Joss plans things out way ahead of time, so I’m looking forward to watching if the show doesn’t get canceled. We’ll see how that goes. For the time being, I’m interested.

Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles: I’m catching up on the second season. I fell behind because I had to make some cuts in my viewing schedule to make room for the stuff I was watching. However, I’ve decided to drop Heroes because I can’t bring myself to care anymore, and all I do while I watch the show is just think of how I would do it instead, and that would involve killing off 90% of the characters. So rather than torture myself, I’m going to stop watching. I’ve only ever done this to one other show I’d invested time in (Grey’s Anatomy) and it makes me feel almost like a traitor, but I’ll get over it. The only thing that will make me start watching Heroes again is if Bryan Fuller goes back. In the meantime I’m watching SCC. Honestly, this show is awesome. I don’t know why I picked Heroes instead of this show because it is fantastic. The acting is good, the storylines actually make sense (in the context of the show – I won’t even go into how much the timeline messes with my head), there aren’t eighty five characters to fit into every episode… plus it’s about time travel, and you know how I feel about that. I haven’t gotten caught up to the currently airing episodes yet, I’m just watching on Hulu when I have the chance. It’s good though. Quality.

BSG: The last episode was weird and while I appreciated that Smart Cylon Ellen is actually not that different than Dumb Human Ellen in terms of social situations, I thought we could have had a little less drama from her. At least she admitted to being stupid. Whatever… I’m just glad they’re finally giving us some answers. I hope Anders still remembers things when he wakes up. And that throwaway line from Kara about Tigh and Ellen – “like watching my parents making out” – let’s just say it’s probably not a throwaway line. Could’ve done with a little more Lee Adama, but, you know. When is that not true.

Chuck:  Dear show: Please continue to be amazing by catering to every nerdy aspect of my personality. Thank you very much. I love you. Love, Sarah.

Flight of the Conchords: Duh, it’s awesome… I was worried the second season wouldn’t be as funny as the first one but as it turns out, Bret and Jemaine have enough hilariousness between them to make another season that is just as good if not better than the first one. My favorite new song is Carol Brown. Go look it up on iTunes.

Haven’t watched Lost from tonight but I’m going to tomorrow. I know it’s about Locke though, so I’m not too excited.

Sarah Rants About Lost

February 13, 2009

Okay, am I the only person in the universe watching this show who cannot stand Daniel and Charlotte? Am I the only one who wasn’t sad that she time-travel-induced-aneurysmed to death? First of all, they had no chemistry whatsoever and their relationship seemed forced and completely unbelievable. Second of all, both actors have the most annoying voices ever. Daniel whispers everything and sounds like he has some kind of disability and Charlotte sounds snooty uptight British. And you guys know how much I love British stuff (slash people). Desmond’s British, and I’m obsessed with him. Charlie = also British = also adored by me. Charlotte was just annoying. I don’t know what her deal was. Maybe it was the fact that her eyes were a weird color? (Shallow comment is shallow. Whatever, deal with it.)

I’m annoyed that they keep going with this storyline with Daniel and Charlotte and how it’s supposed to be romantic and pull at my heartstrings and make me tear up when they’re torn apart by the evil time traveling island. I don’t care. I just don’t. And I’m not totally sure why they gave such a stupid character such a good and potentially interesting name – Charlotte Staples Lewis is her full name. Why did they waste that on her? She didn’t even do anything. She’s an “anthropologist.” Right, whatever. I took an anthropology class and I am pretty sure that has nothing to with 1) finding a time traveling island that she grew up on, or 2) Christian theology. Maybe I’m wrong.

The point is, I don’t care about them and I’m not going to miss her. I hope he goes away soon too, though that’s doubtful because he seems to be the only one left with any scientific intelligence whatsoever… everyone else is just wandering around stupidly throwing themselves down wells.

Oh, and I don’t like Locke either. And I don’t like Jack lately, and Kate is being ridiculous as usual, and Sun is going crazy, Sayid is weird, Hurley is weirder, Ben is a shadow of his former BAMF self, Miles doesn’t talk enough, Sawyer’s depressed all the time, Juliet thinks medical attention involves pulling the unconscious person’s eyelids open repeatedly, Daniel’s voice is like nails on a chalkboard, and Eyeliner Richard is never around anymore. What is the deal. I used to like some of them. The only people I still like these days are Desmond, Penny, Jin, and Aaron.

(By the way what happened to the rest of the people? There were like a ton of them. Like Bernard and Rose and all of them… where are they in this time traveling mess?)

Here’s a list of ways to make Lost better:
1. The Desmond and Penny Show! Featuring playdates with Aaron, Charlie, and Ji Yeoh.
2. FINALLY TALK ABOUT THE FOUR TOED STATUE.

How much do you want to bet that the temple the smoke monster is guarding has something to do with the same people that made the four toed statue? Also, is it sad that my absolute favorite part of that last episode was when the smoke monster came back? I guess I should add “smoke monster” to the list of characters I still like. Because I love him. Even when he rips off arms.

Smoke Monster = Awesome

Ways to make Heroes better

February 12, 2009

11. Bring back Claude.
10. More of that whole Peter following Claude around trying to learn things and looking like an idiot stuff.
9. A lot more of Claude throwing Peter off of buildings.
8. Less emo Claire.
7. Less emo everyone.
6. Think of a legitimate reason for Sylar to still be alive.
5. Make a new villain that isn’t lame or overused. (Personally I thought the puppet guy was a lot more terrifying than Sylar ever was.)
4. Give Hiro back his powers and take away Mohinder’s, because no one ever wanted Mohinder to have powers anyway.
3. Line up every character on the show and have Claude make fun of them, one by one.
2. Make the entire show just about Claude.

And the number one way to make Heroes the show it was in its first season:
1. Bring back Bryan Fuller.
